With 17 years experience at the leading edge of industrial design in Australia, Tim Rugendyke plays a key role in Design Resource’s successful design strategy. Growing up in country NSW, Tim moved to Sydney to study industrial design at The University of Technology Sydney. He began his career in the automotive industry with GMHA, moved into point of sale display for a short time, and has been with Design Resource since 1999. Tim has worked both locally and internationally for Design Resource in places including the US, Singapore, Hong Kong, Korea and Argentina. During his career Tim has also freelanced in the marine industry where he is well known for his styling ability.
As lead designer in Design Resource’s transport design division TDI, Tim has worked on major Australian railway projects including RailCorp’s new Outer Suburban Carriages (OSCAR), new Hunter Diesel Railcars, XPT refurbishment and the new PPP A-Sets. Also he has worked on many international projects that include passenger trains for Wellington New Zealand, Istanbul Turkey and Athens Greece, bringing freshness and cultural relevance to each design. Tim’s passion for styling and illustration has led him to lecture at The University of Technology Sydney and he is an occasional guest lecturer in transport design at Canberra University and the Queensland University of Technology. In 2007 Tim co-authored the e-Book “How to Draw Cars – Fast and Easy”, an internationally sold instructional guide for students on the foundations of drawing cars www.how-to-draw-cars.com ). Outside of work Tim enjoys building model cars, recovering from injuries gained playing soccer, and the outdoors.
